Stuart and Caroline Thorn are the Directors and creative drive behind Buckinghamshire prop design and production company, Vowed and Amazed.
Founded in 2011 the company has become the region’s premier supplier of oversized glowing letters, backdrops and props for private and corporate hire. The company has hundreds of letters, numbers, symbols and signs in stock, made with traditional filament bulbs, neon and funfair caps that give a quirky, fantasy edge to occasions and events of all kinds. Vowed and Amazed also boasts a bespoke manufacturing service and an impressive client list.
With backgrounds in 3D design and fine art, Stuart and Caroline are well placed to guide clients through the design process, and ensure that the initial concept meets expectations. They admit that they ‘love a challenge’ and in addition to a brand new web site last year, they have created The Curious Collection Ltd, a sister company where the company’s more ‘out there’ props and designs can be showcased. There’s a real sense of fun and adventure about the V&A brand, plus great photography and truly unique products.
Needless to say, there’s an electrical connection (see what we did there?), as all Vowed and Amazed products are PAT tested by Kingsmead Testing before sale or hire.
We asked the V&A team why testing had become part of their business model?
“We run a creative business, but we also want to provide a highly professional service to our customers. We use PAT testing because it gives us and our clients an extra level of confidence that our props are in good, safe working order. Also, many of the venues we work in are historic locations and require evidence of the PAT certificates before we install our props.”
In our experience, many venues make PAT tested electrical appliances a requirement, whether it be places of work, exhibition centres or public events. So it makes sound business sense to be proactive about testing and inspection, and to work with a quality testing company that keeps detailed records and reminds you when testing us coming up for renewal.
